Beginner 1
The Beginner Courses are intended for those who are absolute beginners. Often those who haven’t played in many years also start here.
In this course, you will learn the basic elements of bridge. The idea is for you to get a feel for what the game is all about. It includes a copy of A Taste of Bridge by Jeff Bayone, an excellent book that helps guide you through the basics. You will also be provided with a complementary six week subscription to Bestebridge.com, a terrific practice site.
You will learn how to participate in no trump auctions, how to count winners and play the hands. A recording of every class will be provided so you don’t have to worry if you miss a class. You will also receive reinforcing exercises on bestebridge.com and copies of the hands we played with explanations.
Obviously, you won’t be a player in 4 weeks, but you will be able to decide if bridge is for you. Learning bridge is a journey. I consider it an honor that you allow me to accompany and guide you.

Cancellation policy:
Given the limited space in each class, we encourage you to register as far in advance as possible. However, we understand that sometimes schedules change. Your payment will be refunded if you withdraw at least 3 days before the class begins. The $195 course fee is not refundable after the first class, but we will allow you to apply the payment to a future Beginner course.
Beginner 2
If you are reading about our Beginner 2 program then our Beginner 1, “Taste of Bridge” course did its job. Welcome to our world!
Beginner 1 dealt with no-trump hands. The Beginner 2 series provides the bidding and play you’ll need to play in a trump contract and then some.

Beginner 3
This course continues developing your play and defensive skills. The bidding portion of the course is devoted to an extensive discussion of competitive auctions including Takeout Doubles and Overcalls. Lots of interactive example hands.

Beginner 4
We introduce you to Stayman and Jacoby Transfers, two of the most popular bidding conventions and finishes with starting you on your way to building a powerful modern bidding system. You’ll work on constructive bidding sequences, with emphasis on 1NT responses and rebids, and what it takes to go to the 2- level in a new suit. You’ll also study card play, defensive strategy including continuing to explore partnership defensive carding (signaling) with the choice of cards in your arsenal.
